The Independence Day of our nation was celebrated with great patriotic spirit and enthusiasm in our school on 15 August 2026. The programme commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by our respected Principal, Sister Merry Kurricerry, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.The NCC students presented a disciplined and impressive March Past, while the Scout students accompanied the march with a drum performance. During the March Past, our respected Principal, Sister Merry Kurricerry, along with the other Sisters, accompanied the students and encouraged them with their presence.After the flag hoisting ceremony, Sister Merry Kurricerry delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the significance of Independence Day and reminding the students of their responsibilities as citizens of the nation. The students also delivered meaningful and patriotic speeches on the importance of freedom and the sacrifices made by our great freedom fighters.Adding to the patriotic atmosphere, some students came dressed as great freedom fighters, portraying their lives and contributions to India's struggle for independence. Their presentations were highly appreciated and made the celebration even more memorable.The celebration continued with patriotic and cultural dance performances by the students, which filled the atmosphere with joy, enthusiasm, and national pride.The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the Principal, Sisters, teachers, students, and everyone who contributed to making the Independence Day celebration a grand and memorable occasion.The entire celebration was a wonderful blend of patriotism, discipline, cultural expression, and respect for the sacrifices of our freedom fighters.
Plantation Day Celebration

J.M.J. ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL, KANTABANJI
.M.J. English Medium School organised a Parliament Model Activity to familiarise students with the functioning and proceedings of the Indian Parliament. The activity provided students with an opportunity to understand parliamentary procedures, democratic decision-making, public speaking, and leadership.Akshyat Agrawal (School SPL) acted as the Speaker, Tushreeta SD Majhi as the Prime Minister, and Kundan Meher as the Leader of the Opposition. The students actively participated in a parliamentary discussion on the proposed AI Regulation Bill. After a detailed and prolonged debate, the House defeated the proposal to ban Artificial Intelligence, thereby deciding that AI should not be completely banned but should instead be appropriately regulated.The House also discussed the proposed Universal Carbon Tax Bill, particularly its implementation for heavy industries, with the aim of addressing carbon emissions and promoting environmental responsibility.The activity successfully enhanced students’ understanding of democracy, parliamentary procedures, critical thinking, public speaking, leadership, and responsible citizenship.
School Reopening Day 2026

The school reopened for the new academic session on 22nd June 2026. All the teachers arrived at the school by 6:00 a.m. and made the necessary arrangements for the reopening programme, including decorating the school premises.
The students arrived at the school by 7:00 a.m. and were warmly welcomed by the female teachers with tilak (tika) on their foreheads. The day began with a morning prayer led by the students, creating a positive and disciplined atmosphere.
A welcome speech was delivered by the teachers during the mass assembly. Motivational messages were shared to inspire the students to begin the new academic year with enthusiasm and dedication. A welcome song was presented by the female teachers, followed by a cultural dance performance by the students.
The programme concluded with an inspiring address by the Principal Sister, who encouraged the students to work hard, maintain discipline, and strive for excellence in both academics and character. Her motivating words filled the students with confidence and enthusiasm for the new academic year.
Overall, the school reopening programme was conducted successfully and created a joyful, welcoming, and motivating environment for the students.
International Yoga Day Celebration at JMJ English Medium School, Kantabanji

The programme was conducted by the school teachers with great dedication and enthusiasm to promote the importance of yoga for a healthy body and a peaceful mind.The teachers performed various yoga asanas and breathing exercises, demonstrating the value of regular yoga practice in maintaining physical fitness, mental well-being, and emotional balance.The celebration reflected the school's commitment to promoting health, wellness, and holistic development among its staff and students.

The program aied to create awareness among students about the importance of protecting nature and promoting a greener, healthier environment. As part of the celebration, the students actively participated in a plantation drive by planting saplings within the school premises. They enthusiastically worked together to make the campus greener and pledged to care for the plants, recognizing that every tree contributes to a cleaner and healthier future. Mrs. Nandita Meher, one of our dedicated teachers, guided the students throughout the activity. She explained the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance, reducing pollution, conserving biodiversity, and ensuring a sustainable future. Her inspiring words encouraged the students to develop a lifelong habit of planting and protecting trees. The Plantation Day celebration was a meaningful learning experience that instilled a sense of environmental responsibility among the students.
